Class & Booking pack vs. Club Visit pack

A Pack is a type of membership that includes a fixed number of uses. This is GymMaster’s modern take on the old-school punch card.

There are two types of concession packs in GymMaster:

  • Class & Booking Packs

  • Club Visit Packs

When creating a new membership type, these are defined under the Membership Basis.

Class & Booking Pack

This type of pack is built to work with your booking system.

  • A concession is only used when the member is checked in to a booking.

  • As soon as a member books a class or service, that spot is marked as reserved from their pack. This stops them from overbooking—even though the concession won’t actually be deducted until check-in.

  • If you want to allow members to book more sessions than their pack has left, head to:
Settings > Advanced Configuration > Bookings > Allow Concession Packs to be Overbooked

Note: If your facility isn’t using bookings, this type of pack won’t suit. Go with a Club Visit Pack instead.

Club Visit Pack

This one deducts a use every time a member visits the facility, regardless of bookings.

  • Works with key fob scans, manual check-ins, or check-ins via the Member App.

  • Booking check-ins won’t use this pack – the visit needs to be logged as a facility entry.

Can I Use Both?

Not exactly – GymMaster doesn’t currently support a pack that deducts for both visits and bookings directly.

However, there is a workaround:

You can use a Club Visit Pack that includes a benefit for free bookings. Then, instead of checking in to the booking itself, check in the member directly. GymMaster can be set to automatically check in the booking too – just adjust:

Settings > Advanced Configuration > Bookings > Auto Check-in time-frame

This setup works well if your members typically enter the facility as part of a booking.
